This unconventional project is proposed for an inner-city site in close proximity to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and connected to a major arterial road. The building is oriented towards a creek with runs along one of the site’s boundaries and is intended to provide for a vast range of health-related services coupled with short stay accommodation. The brief itself is very much a response to various needs in the health sector that aren’t currently being met.

 

Two levels of basement car parking sit below three levels of lettable area. The roof top is utilised with pools, rehabilitation spaces and extensive landscaping. Solid masonry is coupled with expansive glazing and hanging gardens on a vast scale to give the building a civic quality apt for its intended use.
