RILATT RESIDENCE

Location: Rilatt St, Wavell Heights, Queensland

Alterations and additions project to a 1950s weatherboard house to accommodate an incoming family.  The design strategy seeks to re-use the existing compartmentalised and internalised dwelling as a private bedroom wing with new living spaces provided to a contemporary addition to the rear. The form and volume of the new addition is driven by the function imperatives on modern living for which the existing dwelling was ill equipped to accommodate. Large open volumes and direct physical and visual connections to the landscape embrace a backyard that was previously under utilised.  The project also incorporates a redefined street entry,double carport and in ground swimming pool.
